Special features
Built in 1914 by the shipyard AG Neptun in Rostock, lauch on 16th September 1914 as SOFIA for the Deutsche Levante-Linie, Hamburg. Delivery on 21st October and laid up for the duration of the war. On 13th April 1919 delivered to the shipping controller and operated by Morel Shipping Trust, Cardiff. Resale in 1921 as ST. ANDREWS to the Morel Trust, in 1925 purchased by the Woermann-Linie and renamed to WAGOGO. Operated in freighter service of the WL and the DOAL. First voyage on 23rd April. At the outbreak of the war in 1939 she lay in Lobito. Resale as BAILUNDO to the Cia. Colonia, Lisboa, on 16 May 1943 and in 1949 as NADIR to Faik Zeren in Istanbul. Scrapped in Greece in 1961. Length: 103,1 m, width: 14,7m, power unit: triple expansion engine with 1,550 HP for 9.5 knots speed, tonnage: 3,118 GRT / 1,854 NRT, crew: 44, passengers: 6. Signed and dated (20)"04" at lower left, labeled centrically "Wagogo". Provenance: private collector from Northern Germany. Damageable painting that cannot be shipped, hence only pickup by the customer possible!
