- The freighter was acquired by the HAPAG in 1927. At the outbreak of war in September 1939 laid up in Assab/Eritrea and scuttled there by the crew on 4th April, 1941, before the occupatin by the British. Salvaged lateron and put into service again unter the English flag. Sunk in 1958 northwest of Alexandria. Length: 123 meters, width: 17 meters, draught: 7.8 meters, 2,700 hp, 12 knots speed, tonnage: 5155 GRT / 8110 tdw. Signed at lower right "Uwe Lütgen", labeled centrically "GERA". Provenance: private collector from Northern Germany. Damageable painting that cannot be shipped, hence only pickup by the customer possible!
