- The turbine ship KANDENFELS was launched on 12th November 1936 at the Deschimag Weser AG, Bremen, for the shipping company D.D.G. Hansa and entered service in 1937. Acquired by the Kriegsmarine in 1939 and converted into an armed merchant cruiser. The ship was sunk on 8th May 1941 after a sea battle by the British cruiser CORNWALL off Seychelles. Signed at the lower left and labeled centrically "Kandenfels". Provenance: private collector from Northern Germany. Damageable painting that cannot be shipped, hence only pickup by the customer possible!
