- The figure depicts a proud and powerful female character. According to the superstition of the sailors, the figure was supposed to monitor the course of the ship and protect it from harm. The success of a voyage depended on it, its damaging or even destruction was a portent and signalized great disaster. It stands on a decorated, massive wooden bed-plate with which it was attached to the bow of the ship below the bowsprit. All in all in a fairly good condition. Not suited for shipping, hence only pickup by the customer possible!
