- The figure probably comes from a tall ship from northern France. It was attached to the bow of the ship below the bowsprit. It shows a determined-looking man with a short scimitar under his left arm – perhaps a pirate or corsair. It is in fairly good condition. Both arms were slightly loose and had to be partially reattached. Finally, it was carefully retouched slightly in colour. The rounded wooden block on which the figure stands was newly mounted in earlier years so that the figurehead could be attached to a wall.
