- Signed and dated "1951" in the lower right, vero label "KAPT. EHLERS", etc. The RÜGEN was built in 1950 by the August Pahl shipyard, Hamburg-Finkenwerder, for the captain and owner Wilhelm Ehlert, Finkenwerder. In 1955 the ship was extended by Pahl. The coastal motor vessel was the first type ship designed by the shipbuilding office Weselmann in Hamburg in 1948. This was made possible by the first relaxation of the strict restrictions imposed by the Allies. The measurements were: length: 37.85 m, width: 7.50 m, draught: 2.87 m with a measurement of 248 GRT and a load capacity of 420 tonnes, powered by a four-stroke Diesel engine with 250 hp for 8.5 kn. From 1949 to 1953, 71 ships of this type were built by German coastal shipyards. In 2002, the ship was moored in Beirut and sank there on 7 January 2002.
