Special features
The three-masted schooner was built in 1869 by the shipyard of Ernst Dreyer, Neuhof am Reiherstieg (Hamburg), for Nicolaus Struve (1797 - 1879) and had a displacement of 228 GRT. Other partner shipowners were Hans Schuldt (1818 - 1881) und Hans Wilhelm Struve (1839 - 1914), who also sailed the ship as captain. On November 20th, 1880, on the journey from Hamburg to Angostura, the ship stranded with a full load of cargo and 3,000 bricks at the coast of Guyana in the mouth of the Orinoco river and became completely wrecked. The hearing at the Maritime Board of Enquiry was on March 3rd, 1881 in Hamburg. Elaborate and very detailed wooden model in remarkably good condition.
